A new exhibit on Absinthe opened at the New Toulouse Community Library (64, 94, 34) on November 1.
Based upon the book, "Absinthe: The Green Fairy" by Dr. Elric Anatine, the exhibit showcases art and information about the exotic drink that was popular in Europe at the turn of the century.
To view the exhibit, walk through the green curtain. Ten posters of art and historic ads about Absinthe line the walls. Click on the posters to get a detailed notecard about its creator and history.
Samples of Absinthe are also available in various places around the room so you can sip while you view. This may be your only chance to try the green goodie since Absinthe was banned in the early 1900́s, and still remains unavailable in a lot of countries.
Be sure to click on everything since most of the items are interactive. For example, one of the posters leads to a free download of a book. Dońt miss the cute Naughty Fairy in the Bottle by the fireplace.
A copy of Dr. Anatinés book is available on the table by one of the Victorian couches. The book contains the history of Absinthe, recipes, tips, and current places where it can be purchased. In addition to Dr. Anatine, the exhibit is curated by Lady Pipsqueak Fiddlesticks and Miss GallateaSu Beaumont.
To celebrate the opening, a formal Asinthe Ball was held last night in the library annex. .
The exhibit runs until January 1, 2010.
